Peach and Apple Cobbler

Peach and Apple Cobbler

1 1/2 cups canned cling peach slices
1 1/2 cups sliced cooking apples
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 teaspoon cinnamon
1 Crust recipe

Combine peaches and apples in 8-inch round baking dish.  Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.  Top with Crust.  Bake in moderately hot oven (375 degrees F) about 45 minutes, until crust is browned and apples are tender.  

Crust

1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
1/3 cup milk

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.  Cut in shortening, add milk and mix well.  Turn onto lightly-floured board, and roll to fit top of dish.  Fit over fruit pinching edges to sides of dish; prick top with fork.

Make 5 to 6 servings.
