Pecan Crispies

1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 well-beaten eggs
2 1/2 cups sifted enriched flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans

Thoroughly cream shortening, butter and sugar.  Add eggs and beat well.  Sift and measure flour.  Re-sift with soda and salt.  Add to creamed mixture.  Mix in nuts.  Drop from teaspoon, about 2 inches apart, onto greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.

Yield: 5 dozen pecan crispies
