Peppermint-Stick Ice Cream

1/2 pound peppermint stick candy
2 cups milk
2 cups heavy cream, whipped

Grind or crush peppermint-stick candy.  Soak it for 12 hours in the milk.  Ad to it, the cream which has been whipped until stiff.  Turn into refrigerator trays and freeze until firm.  Stir mixture 2 or 3 times as it freezes.  A delicious topping for this ice cream is chopped chocolate or a thick chocolate sauce.  Coconut or chopped nuts can be sprinkled over the top.

Yield: 1 1/2 quarts ice cream
