Nut Bread

Yield: 1 loaf (4 1/2 by 8 1/2-inches)

2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup chopped nutmeats
1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons melted shortening

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.  Add nuts.

Combine egg, milk and shortening.  Add liquid to flour mixture, stirring until flour is well moistened.
Pour into greased loaf pan.  Bake in 350-degree oven about one hour.
