Popcorn Balls

1 cup sugar
1/3 cup white corn syrup
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup butter
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
3 quarts popped corn

Combine sugar, corn syrup, water, butter and salt in a saucepan.

Cook stirring, until sugar is dissolved.  Continue without stirring, until syrup forms a brittle ball in cold water, 270 degrees.  Add vanilla.  Stir to mix throughout the syrup.

Place popped corn in a large bowl.  Slowly pour the cooked syrup over the corn.  Mix quickly with a long-handled spoon.

We hands slightly and shape the pop-corn balls, using only enough pressure to make balls stick together.
