Scottish Raisin Bread

Scottish Raisin Bread
(Yield: 1 loaf)

1 egg
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk
1/3 cup light molasses
1 1/3 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup rolled oats, uncooked
1/4 cup chopped nuts
1 cup raisins

Beat egg until light.  Add sugar gradually, beating until fluffy.  Mix in buttermilk and molasses.
Sift together flour, salt and soda.  Add to egg mixture.  Stir in oats, nuts and raisins, stirring only enough to combine.

Bake in greased, paper-lined loaf pan in moderate oven, 350 degrees, about 1 hour.
