Oatmeal Cake

Oatmeal Cake

Pour 1 1/4 cups hot water over 1 cup quick oatmeal.  Let stand.
Cream together:
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs (beaten)
In separate bowl combine:
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Mix alternately with oatmeal mixture into the creamed sugars; add 1/2 cup raisins and 1/2 cup chopped nuts if desired.
