Pineapple Bran Nut Bread

Sift together 2 1/4 cups flour, 3/4 cup light brown sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoon salt, 3 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon soda.

Combine 1 cup bran flake cereal, 1 cup pecans chopped, 1 1/2 cups crushed pineapple, undrained.
1 egg, beaten, and 4 teaspoon melted shortening.

Fold in dry ingredients and mix well.  Bake in greased loaf pan in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 1 1/4 hours. 

This bread will retain its moistness for a week.  Slices best after first day.
