Gum-Drop Bread
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon mace
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons melted shortening
1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup diced gum drops
1/2 cup nut meats
4 tablespoons sifted all-purpose flour
Sift and measure the flour. Resift with the baking powder, sugar, salt and spices.
Combine melted shortening, beaten egg and milk. Blend with dry ingredients a little at a time. Do not beat.
Combine fruit, candy and nuts. Dredge with the 4 tablespoons flour. Add to batter.
Turn into a greased pan. Let stand 20 minutes.
Bake in 350 degree oven about 45 minutes.
