Walnut Fig Sticks
Walnut Fig Sticks
3 eggs
3/4 cups brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons grated orange peel
1/3 cup sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons non-fat dry milk
1 cup walnuts, finely chopped
2/3 cup chopped dried figs
Powdered Sugar
Beat eggs until light; add sugar gradually and beat until very thick. Add salt and orange peel. Re-sift flour with powdered milk and baking powder. Add walnuts and dried figs to dry ingredients; toss together until coated. Fold into egg and sugar mixture, stirring until blended.
Turn into greased 9-inch square baking pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cut into strips or squares and roll in powdered sugar wile slightly warm; or let cool and top with whipped cream.
Makes 16 to 18 cookie strips or 6 dessert squares.
